Just as people are being encouraged to be kindhearted, some few nasty people make it hard to donate for a good cause.
Such is the case of Mayowa who scammed Nigerians to the tune of over
$100, 000 in her Gofund Me account and over 32 million Naira in her
Nigerian bank account.
Barely two days after kindhearted Nigerians donated to cancer
patient, Mayowa Ahmed, for surgery she needed for ovarian cancer, it was
reported that Mayowa and her family scammed the good donors from around
the world.
Indeed, Mayowa has Ovarian cancer but doctors at LUTH told Mayowa
that she was beyond treatment and no hospital in the world could treat
her as she was extremely far gone in her stage 4 cancer illness.
Doctors had advised her family to care for her at home as she was
unlikely to survive the illness but her family used her dire situation
to raise money from Nigerians. The doctors in LUTH have also denied
giving her family a medical report advising her to seek treatment
abroad.
Nollywood actress Toyin Aimakhu, who was one of those who spearheaded
the fundraising was at LUTH with police officers while it was reported
that Mayowa’s family home has been put under lock and key.
