Eleven prostitutes and their clients were forced to walk through a city centre naked after police raided a brothel.
Shocking photos captured on a smartphone show the women and many of their clients, barefoot and trying to cover themselves.
Many of them were crying after police burst into the place they were working in St Petersburg, Russia’s second largest city.
The group were marched naked for five city blocks before being put into police cars and taken to a police station.
It followed a raid on an illegal brothel in the city’s historic Vasilyevsky Island.
An eye-witness said: ‘Police burst into the building and a little while later left with naked and crying prostitutes.’
Three of the men reportedly escaped through a back door, but most people at the illegal brothel were arrested.
Sergey Kulik commented online: ‘They should make pimps go naked through the streets, not those girls.’
The police raid is said to have followed a tip-off by notorious Russian former kickboxer and MMA fighter Viacheslav Datsi.
Datsik, who calls himself Red Tarzan, has declared war on prostitution in the city and regularly urges police to raid brothels.
