For many new traders, Importing sounds like a nightmare to go
through. But in fact, it’s not that complicated at all IF you know the
basics behind the importing process –, Product, payment, shipping, taxes
and customs.
What does “importing,” mean? In
general, importing means that you’re buying goods from a supplier or
factory outside your country.
For most of you, China and the
United States will be the top two countries to import from, in this
little article; I’ll only talk about importing from China. Yes, you
heard me, Chinko, that’s where it’s happening for now.
While many of us prefer
“Made
in USA, Germany or Holland, I am convincingly certain that those
companies in USA, OR European Union depend and source their products
from “Chinko”. Even the “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” Campaign face cap on
Mr. Donald Trump is made in by Chinko.
Made in
China products are real, genuine and original. Chinese factories will
only produce according to your requirement and specifications. So, it’s
wrong branding all Products from China as “fake”. Generally, Chinese
produces: 100% quality for USA and Europe;
70% quality for Asians and Middle-East and 50% or less quality for African markets, all on Demand.
There
are high rate of low quality products in Nigeria markets today, because
that’s what importers requested for. One Kobo One Satisfaction, a
famous Chinese Business slogan is applicable in every business approach
in China.
So, you have to consider “Product Standard and Quality” if you’re embarking on importation business.
I always recommend USA standard to all my clients.
Having done that, I assume you already know what you want to import.
What’s the Niche? What do you want to resell in Nigeria?
Is
it a product you know so well? Is it Old or New product? Understanding
the product will not only help you locate the right supplier or factory
but also maximized profit.
While you can
place instant orders on already existing products, new products and
invention will take longer processes from graphics, mold and product
sample.
If you don’t have the time to develop your products,
our experts in 1Nairashop Nigeria will assist you for free. All we need
from you is the idea and a little time for meeting.
After
identifying your product, the next step will be finding a suitable
supplier or factory. I am not talking about aliexpress importers.
I
understand that most Nigerians rely on Aliexpress for importation
business, No! Aliexpress and Jumia are same. Online directories (e.g.
Alibaba) and trade shows are only a starting point.
Suppliers
pay to be listed or to exhibit, and they are not rigorously screened.
If your orders are small, it is usually best to avoid very large
manufacturers because they will probably quote high prices and not care
about your orders.
However, smaller factories usually need closer monitoring, especially on the first production run.
The question is; how can one locate small factories in China?
Factories that will accept small orders at a very discount price?
