The play-off matches of the 2016 male Federation Cup competition will
take place on Saturday and Sunday across the country, a Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) official has said.
Emmanuel Adesanya, Head of NFF’s Federation Cup Unit, told newsmen in
Abuja that 20 clubs would participate in the competition’s play-off
round.
The round involves the competition’s rookies, usually the non-league clubs, which have qualified for the national finals.
They had qualified by virtue of reaching the final of the competition in the various states.
“While nine of the matches will come up on Saturday, the 10th match
which is between Katsina United Junior FC and Niger Tornadoes Feeders
will come up on Sunday in Kaduna,” Adesanya said.
He added that the play-off round will bring up 10 clubs which will
complete the group of 64 which would be part of the National Draw of May
5.
