Menstrual cycle length is the number of days your menstrual cycle
lasts. The day your period start is considered Cycle Day 1, the start of
a new menstrual cycle. Before getting it right, you must note, monitor
and keep track for at least 6 months.
Note down the number of days between starting date and the next
period. Then identify the longest and shortest period cycles. Experts
noted that the average menstrual cycle is 28 days long and it can range
anywhere from 21 to 35 days in adults and from 21 to 45 days in young
teens.
To calculate menstrual cycle length, get your note and your calendar.
Count the number of days from day one of your period (CD 1) up to, and
including, the day before the next period starts.
Continue to count days until your next period occurs and note the
total number of days between the beginning of 1 period and the beginning
of the next. This is your menstrual cycle length.
Every young woman out there must learn to track her cycle. It helps
to keep regular records of everything about your monthly cycle and also a
good way to make sure PMS or your period does not take you by surprise.
When you track, it helps to identify important changes such as a
missed period, unpredictable menstrual bleeding, spotting, light or
heavy bleeding and changes in colour and texture. It prepares you for the
next period. After a few chat, you may see the same pattern that will
make you foresee symptoms and be ready for them. Like getting sanitary
pads ready, pain relievers for PMS and so on.
My best part about tracking is, it prepares me for the next period
and when trying to conceive, it may boost the chances of conception
significantly when you know your fertile days.
