Today, May 10, 2016, 2face Idibia was conferred with an honorary degree at Igbinedion University, Okada, Benin.
The 40-year-old singer arrived Benin Kingdom yesterday and paid a
courtesy visit to the Esama of Benin Kingdom and founder of the
university, Gabriel Igbinedion.
2face in company of his wife Annie ate kolanut with the billionaire.
Well, some Nigerians don’t think he deserves the award, simply because he did not go to School.
One Princeowa on instagram wrote “2face honorary doctorate? Dunno where this country is heading to… Every aspect is backward”
While one Ni_sola wrote “This is unbelievable, from where
to where. What will he do with the Degreee? Somebody that can not speak
English or even spell…the only thing he can speak is Pidgin, smh, shame
on Nigerian universities…”
Adeolatwist defended him saying, “it doesn’t always take an
academic setting to be awarded a degree. How many graduates of music in
Nigeria have equalled tuface’s impact on Nigeria. He has achieved so
much. He should be celebrated.”
One Dr_necta wrote it’s a shame that u and some other
people haven’t moved on from mistakes a young man committed years ago.
Well, you all need to school yourselves and realise that having children
out of wedlock isn’t a social menace. Maybe y’all don’t know what
honorary awards stand for. Has he excelled in his field of practice? Has
he influenced the youths? Has he affected humanity? The answers are
positive. This man made mistakes while growing and has changed for good
with a loving wife who has forgiven him….so y’all need some chill pills
and move on. Congrats man….u deserve that award and more….
