A late revival may not be enough to keep Mikel Obi at Chelsea as Italian media outfit Sportmediaset is reporting that new manager Antonio Conte is planning to sell the Nigerian in a bid to finance the purchase of Paul Pogba.
The Super Eagles captain, who has spent a decade at Stamford Bridge, is
reportedly one of the three players – the others being Brazilian duo of
Oscar and Willian – Conte wishes to sell to fund a mammoth £80m move for
Juventus no 10 Pogba, according to the report.
The current Italy manager who joins the Blues officially after the
summer’s European Championship (Euro 2016) was in London on Monday to
discuss transfer plans for the summer.
Conte is expected to effect a massive overhaul at the Blues following
a disappointing campaign that sees the defending champions sit a lowly
10th on the log.
The former Juventus player and coach is also expected to hold talks
with Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Nemanja Matic and John Terry about their
Stamford Bridge futures.
The Blues return to Premier League action when they travel to Swansea on Saturday.
