The alarming spate of violence in Rivers State has continued with
news of the murder of a chieftain of the All Progressives Party (APC)
and lecturer at the Rivers state polytechnic, now Ken-Saro Wiwa
Polytechnic, Dr. Vincent Elvin Eebee, who was shot dead by suspected
assassins.
Daily News reports that Dr. Eebee was assassinated alongside
a certain Miss Priye, a 21-year-old first year female student of the
Mass Communication Department of the polytechnic, who was with him in
his car on their way from Bori to Port Harcourt.
It was learnt that there were both trailed by the gunmen on their way
from Eebee’s office until they were intercepted. They shot him several
times.
Eebee was a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
in Yeghe community, Gokana local government area of the state and his
demise comes just hours after the Rivers state police command declared
ex-militant, Solomon Ndigbara wanted.
On March 11, he wrote a petition to the APC about the antecedents of
Ndigbara, his townsman, whom he accused of committing heinous crimes in
Yeghe community.
The Nigerian Army, the Police and other security agencies were reportedly copied in the petition.
The Rivers state police command has confirmed the incident.
