The Asesewa District Police have arrested two people carrying 435 slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
According to the District Police Commander, DSP Stephen Ahiafutor, a
search was conducted on a Mercedes Benz carrying some sealed bags from
the Akateng market in the Upper Manya Krobo District to Bartor in the
Volta region, Wednesday evening.
DSP Ahiafutor explained that the driver of the vehicle claimed he was
carrying bags of charcoal from the area to the Volta region.But the police found the 435 slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp concealed in the same bags with the charcoal after a search was conducted on the vehicle.
They first arrested Ebenezer Zotogbi, 36, a driver's mate at a police
checkpoint in Asesewa and the second suspect, who has only been
identified as James, 44, was arrested Thursday morning.
