A man charged with stabbing his pregnant ex-partner has been pictured with the alleged victim for the first time.
Babur Karamat Raja, 41, allegedly stabbed 40-year-old Natalie Queiroz
in Sutton Coldfield town centre on Friday afternoon. She was reportedly
heard screaming ‘not the baby’.
Two passers-by who intervened were treated for minor injuries.
Ms Queiroz was rushed to hospital by air ambulance. Her unborn child
was later delivered safely and is doing well. The victim is said to be
in a stable condition.
Now suspect Babur Karamat Raja, who has been charged with two counts
of attempted murder, attempted child destruction, assault and possession
of a knife in a public place, has been pictured for the first time with
the alleged victim.
Over the weekend, the family of Ms Queiroz thanked those who intervened in the attack.
‘We’d all like to express our heartfelt thanks to everybody who helped her on Friday afternoon,’ they said.
‘Your fearlessness and selfless actions saved both their lives and we are overwhelmingly grateful to you all.’
