Reports
from England says, Arsene Wenger is said to be considering walking away
from Arsenal at the end of the season if the Gunners go trophy-less.
The club’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter final defeat to Watford on Sunday
stunned fans, who had been hoping for at least the consolation of some
silverware to dampen the disappointment of a stuttering league campaign.
The Daily Mail report that the level of anger shown by fans over the
last couple of weeks has shaken Wenger, with at least one large banner
calling for his resignation on display at the KC Stadium when Arsenal
travelled to Hull for an FA Cup replay last week.
Although, Stan Kroenke has been said to have offered the Frenchman his
full backing despite a substantial recent dip in form, inside sources
say the American is reportedly drawing up a succession plan in case of
Wenger’s shock resignation.
The 66-year-old’s contract runs until the end of next season and club
chiefs expect him to continue at the helm of the club until at least the
end of that deal, but the unrest around the club at what is perceived
to be a wasted chance to win the Premier League could see him pull the
cord sooner.
