Kirby Sheen, 24, was left needing plastic surgery after her eye lid
was split in two by the mouth piece of the device, which propelled
towards her after the battery exploded.
The mother-of-two says she was horrified as she looked in the mirror
and realized her eye was dripping with blood and her face covered in
battery acid.
Kirby, who lives with her partner Adam Burgess, a construction
worker, and their two children Aymaris, two, and Ayviarna, five months,
was rushed to A&E but was immediately referred to an eye specialist
at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
The following day Kirby had to undergo two hours of plastic surgery and has since been told she could be permanently scarred.
Kirby is now recovering from the ordeal, which happened on Wednesday,
but says she will need another operation to clean the wound and remove
the stitches.
